Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are included.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

  • All manuscripts are blind peer-reviewed. Specific references that might identify the author(s) should be deleted from the article and file name for the blind-review process.
  • Manuscripts must be original work of the author(s) and not be submitted simultaneously for publication in other journals or books.
  • Manuscripts must adhere to the guidelines of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th edition. The following link can be useful as you prepare your manuscript: UTA subject guide - http://libguides.uta.edu/apa
  • Manuscripts should be submitted as a Word document, double-spaced in 12-point font, with one-inch margins, and numbered pages. No length requirements exist, but manuscripts should be written clearly and concisely.
  • In addition to the title page of the manuscript, submissions should include an additional title page which lists the author(s) and designates the following information for each author: email address, phone number(s), and address. If the first author is not the corresponding author, that should be indicated.
  • Manuscripts must include an abstract of 100-200 words. The abstract should provide the major objectives, methods used, findings, and conclusions. The abstract should not include references or footnotes. The submission process requires submitting the abstract separately so that eventual readers could view the abstract apart from reading the article. However, the manuscript submitted should include the abstract with the body of the manuscript.
  • Manuscripts considered for submission should be written in English. However, once a manuscript is accepted, the author(s) are welcome to add a non-English version of the manuscript to be published.
  • Manuscripts also must include a reference section. The submission process makes it possible to submit a copy of the references separately, but this additional presentation of the references is optional.
  • Tables, figures, and illustrations should not be embedded in the manuscript, but they need to be included with a manuscript submitted so that reviewers have access to this information when reading the manuscript.
  • The journal does not have any article processing charges (APCs) or submission charges.
  • Potential contributors who have questions can contact the co-editors: Kathleen Tice (ktice@uta.edu), Jean Strait (jean@faceeducation.org), or Andy Furco (afurco@umn.edu).
